At VUMC, administrators
and managers write business plans for new ventures, programs, and major
equipment purchases. The purpose of writing a business plan is to refine
your original idea in order to convince others that your vision is an
appropriate use of resources. Business Planning is a tool for evaluating
how you can improve your department or business.
The Department
of Finance offers a basic Business Planning seminar to help staff at the
medical center who need to write a business plan. These seminars are advertised
and registered through the Learning Center and facilitated by Debora Shiflett
from the Department of Finance. The seminars cover the fundamentals of
business planning using the materials included in the Business
Planning Guide for VUMC.
